London Helicopter Centres is a CAA approved Flight Training
Organisation (FTO) and Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO). We
started flight training in 1994 and were one of the first companies
to be approved for JAR training in 2000, offering private /
commercial and flight Instructor training as well as
type rating conversions on twelve different types of helicopter.

Flying Lessons &
Discovery Days are ideal for anyone interested in flying or
who wishes to undertake a flying course. Lessons can be purchased as
gift vouchers, they can be booked for a specific date or issued as
"open date" vouchers which are valid for 12 months from date of
purchase. Prices include VAT. Flights are offered 7 days a week,
subject to availability.

This is the first chance to experience the sensation and
exhilaration of flying a helicopter. This short sortie
incorporates a full 30 minute pre flight briefing to explain the
principles of flight and the controls of the aircraft. Once airborne, your instructor will
demonstrate each of the controls before inviting you to take each
of them yourself. This is the initial stage of learning to fly,
the flight time can be logged towards your licence. Flying Lessons
are ideal for anyone interested in flying or who wishes to
undertake a flying course.

DISCOVERY DAY
The
Discovery Day is a half day course, ideal for those who wish to
enjoy a thorough introduction to learning to fly. The half day
course includes two briefings and two flights that cover the effects
of the controls, power & attitude settings, climbing and descending,
turning and an introduction to hovering. Each briefing is
followed by a flight of approximately one hour. The two hour total
can be logged towards the Private Pilots Licence (PPL(H).
A weight restriction of 15 Stone (95kg) applies to all R22 Lessons.

The Private Pilots licence (PPL(H) course is a minimum of 45hrs
flight training. This course is
tailored to your individual requirements and can either be a full time
intensive course, or less strenuous course conducted at a pace to
suit your own requirements. For your licence you will also
be required to complete a series of Civil Aviation Authority multiple
choice ground exams, invigilated and marked in house.

We can now offer PPL(A) training on our Robin DR400, the course is
a minimum of 45hrs flight training, you will also be required to
complete a series of Civil Aviation Authority multiple choice

Upon obtaining your PPL(H) at London Helicopters you can Self Fly
Hire one of our aircraft, allowing you to exercise the privileges
of your licence. As a private pilot you can fly off to
another airfield or one of the many hotels located locally
for lunch or simply enjoy the pleasures of flying.
We also offer a structured hour building course as part of our
Self Fly Hire program for pilots planning to undertake the CPL(H)
modular course. This encompasses structured navigation exercises,
upper air work and general handling to prepare you for the
requirements of the CPL(H) course. This has proved to be very
beneficial to those who have undertaken it in the past.

company terms & conditions .

We offer conversion courses onto twelve different types of
helicopter. Single engine conversion courses include
ground school tuition and a minimum of 5 hours of flight training plus a flight
test. However if you are rated on an alternative single
piston/turbine type the minimum requirement includes ground school
tuition and a minimum of 3 hours flight training plus a flight
test.
Twin Engine conversion courses include ground school tuition and a
minimum of 8 hours of flight training plus a flight test.
However if you are rated on an alternative twin engine helicopter
type the minimum requirement includes ground school tuition and a
minimum of 5 hours flight training plus a flight test.

CPL(H)
MODULAR COURSE
At London Helicopter Centres we are approved to conduct the CPL(H)
Modular course and the required 170A flight test . For your licence
you will also be required to complete a series of Civil Aviation
Authority ground exams, before taking your CPL skill test. The
ground examination have to be taken at a CAA approved centre.

FLIGHT
INSTRUCTOR COURSE
The Flight Instructor
Course is a professional rating enabling you to provide flight
instruction for the purposes of a person becoming qualified for the
grant of a licence. The FI(H) course is a
minimum 120hrs ground school and 30hrs dual instruction. The course
combines ground briefings, ground instruction techniques, a review
of all the technical subjects and the flying of each exercise.
