Helicopter Pilot Training - PPL, CPL, FI Courses
London Helicopter Centres is a CAA approved Flight Training Organisation (FTO) and Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO). We started flight training in 1994 and were one of the first companies to be approved for JAR training in 2000, offering private / commercial and flight Instructor training as well as type rating conversions on twelve different types of helicopter.

Helicopter Introductory Flying Lessons & Discovery Days are ideal for anyone interested in flying or who wishes to undertake a flying course. Lessons can be purchased as gift vouchers, they can be booked for a specific date or issued as "open date" vouchers which are valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Prices include VAT. Flights are offered 7 days a week, subject to availability.

PPL(H) Course
The Private Pilots licence (PPL(H) course is a minimum of 45hrs flight training. This course is tailored to your individual requirements and can either be a full time intensive course, or less strenuous course conducted at a pace to suit your own requirements. For your licence you will also be required to complete a series of Civil Aviation Authority multiple choice ground exams, invigilated and marked in house.

PPL(A) Course
We can now offer PPL(A) training on our Robin DR400, the course is a minimum of 45hrs flight training, you will also be required to complete a series of Civil Aviation Authority multiple choice ground exams, invigilated and marked in house.

Conversion Courses
We offer conversion courses onto twelve different types of helicopter. Single engine conversion courses include ground school tuition and a minimum of 5 hours of flight training plus a flight test. However if you are rated on an alternative single piston/turbine type the minimum requirement includes ground school tuition and a minimum of 3 hours flight training plus a flight test.
Twin Engine conversion courses include ground school tuition and a minimum of 8 hours of flight training plus a flight test. However if you are rated on an alternative twin engine helicopter type the minimum requirement includes ground school tuition and a minimum of 5 hours flight training plus a flight test.

CPL(H) Modular Course
At London Helicopter Centres we are approved to conduct the CPL(H) Modular course and the required 170A flight test . For your licence you will also be required to complete a series of Civil Aviation Authority ground exams, before taking your CPL skill test. The ground examination have to be taken at a CAA approved centre.

Flight Instructor Course
The Flight Instructor Course is a professional rating enabling you to provide flight instruction for the purposes of a person becoming qualified for the grant of a licence. The FI(H) course is a minimum 120hrs ground school and 30hrs dual instruction. The course combines ground briefings, ground instruction techniques, a review of all the technical subjects and the flying of each exercise.
